Benjamin Button-Part2

Saw Benjamin Button. Let's just say I will never look at Brad Pitt in the same way ever again.

Benjamin Button

It's been our tradition to go see a movie on the day after Christmas. This year we are changing it up a bit and going to see a movie 2 days after Christmas. Because we're exciting and like things unpredictable :). Kids want to see the Adam Sandler movie, Bedtime Stories, but I really want to see the Brad Pitt one, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. No, not just because Brad Pitt is in it, that's just an added bonus. But because I love the premise-that he's born old and "grows younger" as time goes by. I actually have thought about that before and thought it would be a great idea for a novel. It is based on a short story written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Even though I'm a Fitzgerald fan, I never read that one. What would it be like to be growing younger instead of older? Youth is wasted on the young as the classic saying goes, and wouldn't it be cool to relive your youth with the knowledge you have now? Except the part that you keep getting younger and younger. That would kind of suck.....I can't imagine my husband taking care of me as a baby!

Just Don't Do It

I love watching A Christmas Story and I have to watch it every year. Not only is it a holiday classic, it's an excellent Public Service Announcement. As a little girl watching it, this scene scared the crap out of me and taught me an important life lesson: Do NOT, under any circumstances, touch your tongue to any cold metal surface. Before this movie, kids had to learn that lesson the hard way. You'd think that with this scary reminder, torn tongues would be a thing of the past, but apparently kids are still doing this. When I was volunteering at school there was a little boy in the nurse's office who stuck his tongue on a frozen fence and was hysterical with a bleeding tongue. Instead of waiting for help, he (brace yourself!) ripped it away.

So here's your friendly reminder to tell your child the dangers of cold metal, if you don't talk to them about it, who will?

Busy Day

I was thinking about what to post today but my head is swimming with all of the things that I have to do today, so I thought I'd post about that. Is anyone else crazy busy trying to finish a foot-long to-do list before Christmas? I guess if you're reading this blog, the answer is probably "no", LOL! I have some last minute shopping (groceries, plus I forgot about a name exchange party for my daughter and have some gift cards to pick up), baking for a party this weekend, I really want to get my wrapping finished before the busy weekend and I spent my morning volunteering for a Christmas craft day at school. Yeah, I'm tired............

What Happened to Stephanie Tanner?

Remember little Stephanie? I loved Full House and my kids still watch reruns. But it looks like she's fallen the way of many child actors before her. She is only 26, has been married twice, battled a meth addiction and is now in a divorce/custody battle with her husband. The latest news is that she now has limited visitation with her 8 month old daughter, Zoie, after she was accused of driving intoxicated with her daughter in the car. You can read about it here.

I can't imagine how hard it would be to grow up this cutesy little girl, getting attention and fame and then all of a sudden it's gone. She is so young and is now a mother, I REALLY hope and pray that she can turn her life around. It's just so sad.

Pepsi Pot Roast

This what I'm making in my crockpot today and the smell is driving me crazy. If you haven't had Pepsi Pot Roast, then you have not lived! I know it sounds like a weird combo and I don't know who thought of it in the first place (probably the same genius who decided to combine chocolate and peanut butter), but the Pepsi makes the roast incredibly tender. You can't taste the Pepsi, in fact, when I've made it to guests and they rave about it I have them guess the "secret ingredient". It makes delicious gravy, too, and what is a dinner without gravy?

Here is the recipe I use for Pepsi Pot Roast:

1 pot roast (3-4 pounds)

1 package dry onion soup mix

2 cans cream of mushroom soup (sometimes I use 3 if I want more gravy)

1 can Pepsi

That's it, very simple. I can't wait for dinner!
